PRESSD-SL starts 10 days training on Solar Energy
Promoting Renewable Energy and Services for Social Development Sierra Leone, Welt Hunger Hilfe, European Union and other partners have commenced a ten-day Solar Photovoltaic workshop for Technical Institute Lecturers at the Government Technical Institute, Freetown.

The aim of the training is to provide knowledge, Curriculum and training tools in order to offer practical and hands on educational Courses for students and working professionals in Technical Institutions.

One of the Facilitators Bulient Bicer described solar energy as a cheap, long lasting and easy to manage energy. He said the participants are expected to spread the knowledge they are gaining from the training to other lecturers and students.

Renewable Energy Policy Advisor, Promoting Renewable Energy and Service for Social Development project, Kevin Johnstone said his institution is implementing a renewable energy project for five years to electrify rural communities.

The Principal, Government Technical Institute, Joseph Kargbo said the Project has developed the renewable energy department of his institution and that the batteries of Solar light normally die out in four to five years.
