Police headquarters is informing the public that on the 8th of February, received a request from a group called frontricia children’s foundation to organise a peaceful demonstration on behalf of their parents or guardians whose children’s results are withheld by WAEC.
According to a release from police headquarters, they have granted a conditional approval of the said demonstration on the grounds that the organisers meet with the regional police commander Freetown west at the Lumley regional headquarters to plan and agree on some ground rules on the conduct of the demonstration.
The organisers have so far failed to do so and all effects to contact them have proved futile.
In view of this, the release notes, intelligence received about the growing threats of violence and intimidation during the said demonstration, police headquarters has no option but to ban the event.
The release however notes that organisers are hereby advised to contact police headquarters for proper planning of the event for a future date.
Meanwhile no demonstration of whatever nature should be held on Monday 29th.
The release concludes that the Sierra Leone police will apply necessary force in the enforcement of the said cancellation nation wide.
