The First Lady Sia Nyama Koroma has joined the United Artists of Sierra Leone based in the United Kingdom in donating food and non-food items to patients of the Kissy Mental Home.
The United Artists Sierra Leone also provided seventy five million Leones which will be invested for the smooth running of the hospital. The Chairman of the United Artists Sierra Leone Alhaji Bah says the organization has its origin from the 1980s principally established to represent and defend the interests of performing artists .He says the United Artists Sierra Leone based in England became a charity group in 2012 after a six year break. He says their intervention is to help address some of the challenges of the Mental Home.
The Treasurer of the United Artists Sierra Leone Kalie Kamara says since 2012 the organization is dedicated in raising funds through the promotion of Arts and cultural events in providing support to the Kissy Mental Home. He says this is the third time the organization has been supporting the Kissy Mental Home. He expresses thanks to the Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Edward Nahim and his staff for their dedicated service to humanity.
Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation One Foday Sawi Lahai thanked United Artists of Sierra Leone for coming to the aid of the Mental Home. He assured the organization that the items will be used for their intended purpose.
The Minster expresses government‘s commitment in improving the welfare of the Mental Home.
The Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Edward Nahim calls on the government to pay more attention to the Psychiatric home noting that little has been done to the Mental Home.
The Head of Programs Office of the First Lady, Moses Beckley on behalf of the First Lady donated four sewing machines and Infection Prevention and Control materials to the Kissy Mental Home.
He says the first Lady decided to collaborate with the United Artists Sierra Leone because of the long standing relation they had with the group.
