The Executive Director of Girl Child Education Advocacy Network Sierra Leone Moses Sir Fayia has said that empowering girls with quality education and self worth will enable them become role models in society.
He made this statement during an interactive session in commemorating Girl child day at the conference room of YMCA.
MrFayia said that he formed the girl child education advocacy network in 2011 with the aim to empower on girls issues.
He described this year’s international girls child day as time of reflection for girls on how they will make use of opportunities to reach their academic goals.
Representatives from the ministries of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Health and Sanitation and other child friendly institutions described the day of the girl child as an important day to discuss pertinent issues affecting the girl child and successes gained over the years to help promote their welfare.
